SIERRA COUNTY CHILDREN AND FAMILIES COMMISSION

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING

FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 2020 * 9:30 A.M.

The Sierra County Children and Families Commission met on Friday, June 26, 2020, at 9:30 A.M. at the Loyalton City Hall Auditorium, led by Chairperson Mary Wright.

The meeting was called to order at 9:38 A.M. by Chairperson Mary Wright.

FLAG SALUTE

Mary Wright led the Flag Salute.

ROLL CALL

Present: James Beard, Laurie Marsh, Anne Reugebrink, Mary Wright

Absent: Shanna Anseth, Andrea Ceresola White

Staff Members Present:

Allison Smith, Executive Director

Kelly Champion, Business Manager

ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING

Nominate and Elect Chairperson for Fiscal Year 2020-2021

Ms. Marsh nominated Mary Wright as Chairperson for the 2020-2021 fiscal

year. Mr. Beard seconded the nomination. The vote was taken and Ms.

Wright was elected Chairperson by the following vote:

AYES: Beard, Marsh, Reugebrink, Wright

NOES: None

ABSENT: Anseth, White

Nominate and Elect Vice Chairperson for Fiscal Year 2018-2019

Ms. Reugebrink nominated Laurie Marsh as Vice Chairperson for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. Mr. Beard seconded the nomination. The vote was taken and Ms. Marsh was elected Chairperson by the following vote:

AYES: Beard, Marsh, Reugebrink, Wright

NOES: None

ABSENT: Anseth, White

Adopt Calendar of Meetings 2020-2021

The 2020-2021 Calendar was presented by Executive Director Smith with six meetings scheduled, the fourth Friday as the meeting date. Ms. Marsh moved to adopt the Calendar of Meetings. Ms. Reugebrink seconded the motion, and the motion carried unanimously.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

Ms. Marsh moved to approve the agenda, Mr. Beard seconded the motion, and the agenda was unanimously approved.

PUBLIC COMMENT

There was no public comment.

REPORTS

Director’s Update

Ms. Smith handed out the press release statements from First 5 California and First 5 Association regarding their positions on the protests against racism, racial injustice and police brutality occurring nationwide. Ms. Smith discussed the emotional stress and challenges that are presented for all people during this time of civil unrest and the coronavirus pandemic.

ADJOURNMENT

Mr. Beard stated he could not hear the proceedings and left the meeting. The meeting ended at 9:46AM due to lack of a quorum.


ADVANCED PLANNING

The meeting of the SCCFC will be rescheduled as a Special Zoom meeting within the next few days, with the time and date TBD.
