First 5 Sierra is sponsoring trainings in the area of Language Acquisition for preschool age children. The trainings will be provided by Kristina de Korsak, an Early Education Instructor at Sonoma State College. The first training is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 from 9-12 a.m. at the Loyalton Social hall. Future trainings will be announced soon.
Members of the Provider Network will be awarded credit toward Professional Growth incentives. Each three hour session will be worth five hours of credit, if a followup activity is completed. This year first 5 Sierra will also award Provider network participants 8 hours of credit for attending the CPR/First Aide training. Hence, if a Provider Network participant attended the CPR training and two of the Language Acquisition classes, they would receive credit for 18 hours of professional growth and a $100 stipend. Credits less than 18 hours will be prorated or participants can apply them to next year’s professional growth.
Parents and providers outside the Provider Network are welcome to attend the trainings. Please contact the First 5 Sierra Office at 993-4884, if you would like to register for the class.
